Tech billionaires take center stage at Trump inauguration
At the President Donald Trump’s Inauguration that took place today January 20th of 2025, inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C., tech billionaires, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, were prominently positioned at the ceremony.
Their presence highlights their influence in the White House. This marks a shift from Silicon Valley's previous stance towards Trump. Despite limited seating, key figures like Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai attended. Musk has shown strong support for Trump, while Bezos and others have engaged with him, potentially affecting government contracts and regulatory scrutiny.
The presidential inauguration that happened today marks Donald the 47th President of the United States. Like said earlier, the ceremony happened inside U.S. Capitol Rotunda; this is caused by the severe cold weather conditions currently happening in the country.
However, the inaugural parade was moved to the Capital One Arena to accommodate attendees safely in light of the inclement weather. This marks the first time since 1985 that a presidential inauguration has been moved indoors because of weather.
The event commenced at noon Eastern Standard Time, with Chief Justice John Roberts administering the oath of office to President Trump. Vice President JD Vance was sworn in earlier in the ceremony.
The recent former president Joe Biden also attended the inauguration ceremony. His presence marks a departure from 2021 when Trump did not attend his inauguration.
Following the swearing-in, President Trump is expected to sign several executive orders focusing on imposing tariffs on imported goods and initiating large-scale deportations, though specific details have yet to be clarified.
