Scheduled posts now in test on Threads
The teams behind Instagram’s Threads is now testing the ability for users to schedule posts. According to Head at Instagram Adam Mosseri, the abilities to schedule replies will not be added.
“We want to balance giving people more control to plan their Threads posts while still encouraging real-time conversation,” Mosseri emphasized in a Threads post.
If people could schedule replies on Threads, it might make conversations on the social platform feel less natural and unreal. More so, replies could become more planned or automated, which might take away from the flow of real-time chats. It could also lead to spam or less genuine interactions, which might also not good for creating honest conversations.
Mosseri points out that Instagram has been working on this feature “for months.” It seems like he’s trying to push back against the idea that every new update on Threads is inspired by Bluesky. Just last week, Threads launched curated collections of people to follow, which many compared to Bluesky’s starter packs.
Yesterday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that Threads has over 100 million daily active users, marking the first time the company has shared daily user figures for its rival to Twitter (now X).
Threads also boasts more than 300 million monthly active users, far surpassing Bluesky, which remains much smaller. Meanwhile, Instagram, which already lets users schedule feed posts, announced this week that the scheduling feature is now being extended to DMs.
In summary, scheduling posts on Instagram’s Threads App will allows users to plan their content ahead of time. This will make it easier for them to post regularly without needing to be online at specific times to complete the tasks.
This is useful for businesses, creators, and busy people who want to stay active on the Twitter-like social media platform while also saving time. It also gives users more control over their posts and letting them focus on real-time chats when they want to.
